HISTORY
The
erstwhile Cochin Customs & Central Excise Commissionerate
was bifurcated into Cochin & Calicut Commissionerates
with effect from 16.7.1997, vide notification No.20/97 CE (NT) dated 9.7.97
and 21/97 CE (NT) dated 16.7.97 and the newly formed Commissionerate
is housed at C.R.Building, Mananchira,
Calicut. With the formation of Cochin Customs Preventive Commissionerate
with effect from 1.11.2002, the Customs preventive functions looked after by
this Commissionerate were entrusted to that Commissionerate.
ADMINISTRATIVE
SETUP
The Commissionerate of Central Excise, Customs and Service
Tax, Calicut Commissionerate has jurisdiction over
the districts of Trichur, Palakkad,
Malappuram, Calicut, Wynad,
Kannur and Kasaragode (excluding the area comprised
in Malakippara tea factory, being part of Pariyaram village of Mukundapuram
Taluk of Trichur district)
of Kerala State, Mahe
Commune of the union territory of Pondicherry and
the union territory of LakshadweepThe Commissionerate of Central Excise, Customs and Service

The Commissionerate comprises of 5 Central Excise Divisions,
International Airport & Air Cargo Complex at Karippur
as detailed below.

LOCATION
The office of this Commissionerate is situated in the heart of Calicut City, on the northern side of Mananchira. The Calicut Railway station, KSRTC and other two Mofussil
Bus Stands are within 1 Kms. from this office.
Karipur International Airport
is 28 Kms. from Calicut City.
The Commissionerate Office is functioning in an eight storied
new building owned by the department. The office of the Commissioner of
Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax is functioning here.
The Kozhikode Central Excise Division Office is also functioning
in the same premises.
Income
Tax Commissionerate, State Bank of India Main
Branch, Head Post Office, P.W.D Offices etc. are
located adjacent to this office.
